Bernie Devlin

Bernie Devlin’s research has two major foci, the development of statistical methods for the analysis of genetic data and modeling genetic data to reveal some features of the genetic basis of disease and related phenotypes. Recent statistical genetics research involve methods appropriate for genome-wide association studies: controlling Type I error while maintaining good power for reasonable alternatives; searching the huge model space; incorporating pre-existing information; and controlling for population structure or ancestry. Recent empirical work has been focused on the genetics of neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative disease.
