
Catalina Betancur received her medical degree from the Universidad CES in Medellin, Colombia. She then obtained a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Bordeaux, France. After postdoctoral training at the Cajal Institute in Madrid, Spain, and at the INSERM (National Institute of Health and Medical Research) in Paris, France, she obtained a permanent position as an Investigator at the INSERM. Currently, she is at an INSERM/CNRS laboratory at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris. Dr. Betancur's work is focused on the elucidation of the genetic basis of autism spectrum disorders, particularly on the etiological heterogeneity of such disorders.
